Throughout history, various cultures have utilized geometric patterns in their arts, architecture, and designs. Geometric patterns, ranging from the intricate tile works in Islamic architecture to the symmetrically balanced designs of ancient Greek pottery, have served as a visual language in conveying spiritual beliefs, societal values, and aesthetic principles. Furthermore, these patterns not only showcase the creativity and skill of past civilizations but also reveal the universality of mathematical concepts transcending time and cultural boundaries.

In this presentation, Selçuk Artut will attempt to make visible the veiled connections between the geometric art of the past and the productive art of today. Through the travels of the artist, Artut will present the opportunity to examine pattern examples in significant structures that have left their mark in history, spanning from the EÅŸrefoÄŸlu Mosque in BeyÅŸehir to the Yavuz Sultan Selim Mosque in Istanbul, from the Shah-i-Zinde Necropolis in Uzbekistan to the Alhambra Palace, and from the Aksa Mosque to the ancient city of Perge.
